First UMC has a tradition of excellence in music and is blessed to have many members who are talented, accomplished musicians. They share those talents every Sunday through the adult chancel choir and the Renew contemporary band, special instrumental and voice solos and ensembles, musicals and children’s choirs and handbells.
RENEW Band and Singers
A variety of musical instruments from the guitar to trumpet and drums are featured in the 9:00 a.m. Renew contemporary service. The group practices at 6 p.m. on Tuesdays. Child care, for rehearsal time, is available.
Chancel Choir
The Chancel Choir sings a variety of choral literature, ranging from classic to gospel and more. The choir practices at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesdays and sings at the 11:00 a.m. Membership is also open to any adult or youth. The Chancel Choirs sings a variety of choral literature, which ranges from classical to gospel, and beyond. Child care, for rehearsal time, is available.
Resurrection Ringers Bell Choir
The Resurrection Ringers participate in worship once a month as well as for special performances at Christmas and Easter. Anyone with an interest in learning to ring or those with ringing experience are welcome to participate. This group is open to adults and youth and rehearses at 6:00 p.m.. on Wednesdays on the 2nd floor in the Sanctuary. Child care, for rehearsal time, is available.
Children’s Choirs
Children’s Choirs are divided into choirs based on age. All Children’s Choirs are part of our WOW program and meet at 4:15 p.m. on Wednesdays. These choirs sing in worship every 4 to 6 weeks. The children’s choirs combine for larger-scale presentations once a semester. Children are introduced to hand chimes and rhythm instruments as part of their choir experience at all age levels.
